July 1: David Wurster, 27, was charged with
Aggravated Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Aggravated
Driving While License Revoked (DWLR). It is his fifth DUI
and fourth DWLR. A fifth DUI is a Class 1 Felony and non-probationable.
The defendant was lodged on a $5,000 bond.
July
3: James D. Kisla, 51, was arrested for Aggravated
DUI/Causing Death after hitting 69 year-old Donna Early as
she crossed Yackley Street in Naperville after the annual
Eyes to the Skies fireworks event. The defendant had a Blood
Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.089 and had hydrocodone in his
system. Bond was set at $300,000. The defendant paid the 10
percent required within two days and was released

5: Sam Manyfield, 69, was charged with Aggravated
DUI/Causing Death and Reckless Homicide after hitting and
killing 52 year-old Yvonne Williams as she crossed the
street at approximately 8:45 AM. The defendant did not stop
at the crash scene, but was stopped by police just a few
blocks away. According to reports, the defendant was barely
able to get out of the car under his own power and a bottle
of gin fell to the ground as he got out. Hospital blood
testing revealed a BAC of 0.316. The defendant received
court supervision for a DUI in 1992. He had also been
charged with DUI four previous times between 1997 and 2005.
The charges were dismissed in each case. Manyfield is being
held on $350,000 bond.
July 9: William Miller, 41, was charged in Cook
County for Aggravated DUI/Causing Death for a crash that
took the life of 37 year-old Ernestine Temple. The defendant
turned left in front of the motorcycle Temple was riding.
The defendant then attempted to remove the license plate
from his vehicle and flee the scene, but residents held him
until police arrived. Miller had a BAC of approximately
0.24.
July 10: Marquis Harrison, 16, has been charged
with First Degree Murder and DUI, among other charges after
hitting 42-year-old Marciea Adkins while fleeing police.
Adkins was a 911 dispatcher driving home at 6:15 AM after
her shift when she was struck by the defendant after he ran
a stop sign. The defendant had just stolen an SUV from a man
who left the engine running as he fed a parking meter.
Chicago Police initially stopped the defendant for running a
red light, but he backed the SUV into the squad car and
fled. He continued after hitting the victim’s car,
eventually crashing into a parked vehicle. He then fled on
foot, but was apprehended soon thereafter. The defendant had
a BAC of 0.116 and admitted to smoking marijuana. He is
being held on $1 million bond.
July
10: Jeffrey S. Fisher, 39, was arrested and charged
with Aggravated DUI/Causing Death for the July 3rd crash
that killed his girlfriend, Eva Meyers. At approximately
3:00 AM on July 3rd, the defendant drove his pickup truck
into a Canadian Pacific Railroad locomotive in Itasca. Both
occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle. Meyers was
flown to a local hospital, where she later died. Hospital
blood test results show the defendant had a BAC of 0.18. The
defendant is being held on $500,000 bond in DuPage County
Jail.
July
24: Vicente Torres-Vasquez, 47, was charged and later
indicted for Aggravated DUI/Causing Death in Lake County.
The defendant was turning onto Route 176 in Wauconda and
struck a motorcycle being ridden by 55 year-old Gregory
Homola, killing him. Prosecutors allege the defendant had a
BAC of 0.288. Multiple open containers of beer and a bottle
of tequila were found in the defendant’s vehicle. The
defendant has three prior DUI offenses. He is being held on
$2 million bond.
July 25: Benjamin A. Davila was charged in Knox
County with Aggravated DUI Causing Great Bodily Harm after
hitting Knox County Deputy Keith King. The defendant was
driving his Mini Cooper the wrong way on Interstate 74.
Deputy King was transported to the hospital in serious
condition but is expected to make a full recovery. The case
is set for pretrial conference in January.
July 26: Chad Hayes, 31, was charged in Lawrence
County with Aggravated DUI Causing Death. On July 25th the
defendant struck seven year old David Kearby, who was riding
a bicycle. Kearby was taken by ambulance to the local
hospital where he died. The case is set for pretrial
conference on November 22.
August
7: Jeffrey Kallister, 29, was charged in Peoria
County with two counts of Aggravated DUI/Causing Death after
an early morning crash that killed Korey, 40, and Rachel,
30, Korenchuk as they sat on their motorcycle at a red
light. The defendant rear-ended the motorcycle and the
Korenchuk’s were thrown into an SUV in front of them.
Neither rider was wearing a helmet. The defendant fled the
scene, but was located and arrested within 30 minutes. Court
records indicate the defendant had a BAC of 0.18 and
admitted to drinking nine beers prior to driving. Because
two people were killed, the defendant faces up to 28 years
in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). The
defendant posted $50,000 bond and is out of custody.
August 9: Richard Strum, 35, was charged with two
counts of Aggravated DUI/Causing Death and three counts of
Aggravated DUI/Causing Great Bodily Harm after broadsiding
another car at the intersection of Austin and Sunnyside in
Chicago at approximately 8:00 AM while having marijuana in
his system. Killed in the crash were 35 year-old Claudia
Delia and her 16 year-old son Bryan. Her three year-old son,
Hauk Marvin, suffered a broken leg, her 15 year-old stepson,
Zack Marvin, suffered head trauma and a 15 year-old friend,
Chris Diaz, was seriously injured. The group was headed to
the Wisconsin Dells. The defendant has not held a valid
license since 2003, but continued to accumulate numerous
traffic violations. He is being held on $2 million bond.
August 15: Deandre Wolfe, 17, was charged with DUI
and Reckless Homicide in Cook County. The crash occurred on
May 9th when he struck and killed four year-old Annabella
Loerop after she ran into a residential street to retrieve a
ball. The allegations against the defendant are that he had
marijuana in his system and was speeding in a school zone.
He is being held on $250,000 bond.
August
23: Ignacio Ramirez, 38, was charged with Aggravated
DUI/ Causing Death, Reckless Homicide and Leaving the Scene
of an Accident Involving Death, among other charges after
running a stop sign and swerving into a bicyclist. 30
year-old Fredrick Kobrick was taken to Stroger Hospital
where he was pronounced dead. The defendant was later denied
bond after a bond hearing.
August 25: David E. Bialeschki, 62, was indicted
in Champaign County for an August 1st Aggravated DUI. This
is the defendant’s 6th DUI. Consequently, it is a class X
offense and Bialeschki is eligible for a mandatory 6–30
years in the IDOC. Bialeschki was discovered by a passing
motorist walking away from his car at an exit ramp at
Cunningham Avenue and Interstate 74. He was falling down and
bleeding from the face. The defendant was transported to the
hospital, where it was determined he was under the influence
of alcohol. He is being held on $150,000 bond.
August
28: Joseph E. Slattery, 25, was charged in Will
County with multiple counts of Aggravated DUI/ Causing death
from a crash that killed 72 year-old Margaret S. Simons and
92 year-old Suzanne Thomson. The crash occurred when the
defendant, who is alleged to have both alcohol and drugs in
his system, crossed the center divider and hit Ms. Simons’
vehicle. The two passengers in the defendant’s car, which
included a one year-old child, suffered minor injuries. Bond
was set at $350,000.
September 4: Sheila B. Kane, 30, was charged with
Aggravated DUI/Causing Great Bodily Harm for causing a crash
that sent Frederick Johnson to the hospital with life
threatening injuries. The defendant was driving near the
United Center when she hit the median and then collided with
Johnson, who was riding a bike. Toxicology reports revealed
a BAC of 0.201. Cook County Circuit Court Judge Peggy
Chiampas ordered Kane to be held on $200,000 bond.
September 6: Eduardo Lopez, 20, was indicted for
Aggravated DUI/ Causing Death after a May 9th crash in
Morris. Derek Posey, 27, and two other men were sitting in
the bucket of a construction vehicle while on break from
construction work for the Department of Natural Resources
when Lopez hit the truck. All three fell out, but Posey was
crushed by the impact. The defendant is alleged to have been
under the influence of cannabis and methamphetamine.
September
13: Rebecca Wells, 33, has been charged with
Aggravated DUI/Causing Death and Aggravated DUI/Causing
Great Bodily Harm from the August 27th crash that killed
Justin McBride and seriously injured his nine year-old
daughter. The defendant is alleged to have had marijuana,
cocaine, opiates and benzodiazepine in her system at the
time of the crash. She turned left in front of McBride, who
was riding his motorcycle. The defendant was held on a
$250,000 bond.
September
25: Brandon Garcia, 26, was charged in St. Clair
County for Aggravated DUI/Causing Death and Aggravated
DUI/Causing Great Bodily Harm after striking two pedestrians
on the Poplar Street Bridge. Duante Simmons, 27, was pushed
over the railing and killed. Elvira Secic, 27, was seriously
injured. The defendant was fleeing the scene of a crash with
a St. Louis Police squad car when he hit the two
pedestrians. His BAC is alleged to have been twice the legal
limit. He is being held on $250,000 bond.
September 28: Lloyd D. Walton, 53, was arrested in
DuPage County for Aggravated DUI. This is his 6th DUI,
making the current charge a Class X felony punishable by
6–30 years in the IDOC. Walton was stopped for erratic
driving. His BAC is alleged to have been at least twice the
legal limit. He is being held on $90,000 bond.
